SearchTools Survey - July 2001

Size of Sites

As we expected, larger and more complex sites require additional navigation, and search engines help to provide that. Sites less than 10,000 pages generally do not have search engines, while those greater than 10,000 pages are likely to have search installed.

number of pages without search with search
up to 1,000 293 75
1,000 to 5,000 87 46
5,000 to 10,000 30 32
10,000 to 50,000 31 35
50,000 to 100,000 17 17
100,000 to 500,000 15 21
more than 500,000 9 15

Previous Size of Sites

Our older scale was too small, it ended at 5,000 pages. We're including it here for comparison.
